Sylvite Intake for Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) Patients
It is common for Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) patients to have potassium
metabolism dysfunction, which must be rectified immediately or else more serious
consequences will occur. Usually, we should replenish adequate sylvite when
potassium content in blood is low; on the other hand, we control sylvite
absorption strictly when hyperkalemia occurs. Then how to use sylvite for Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) patents?
The normal value for blood serum potassium is 3.5 ~5.5mmol/L, it is called
hypokalemia when the level is lower than 3.5mmol, and hypokalemia when it
excesses 5.5 mmol/L. When the urine volume within 24 hours is more than 1,000ml
and the blood potassium is normal, patients need not to control sylvite
absorption. When the urine volume is less than 1,000ml within 24 hours, patients
should decrease sylvite absorption to no more than 1700mg/d. Given that the
prerequisite foods of high-quality protein contain certain amount of sylvite,
the absorption of sylvite from other foods should be less than 1500/mg per day.
When the content of blood potassium decreases, patients discharge over
1500ml.When urine excretion excesses 1500ml per day and the patient appears
hypokalemia symptoms, rational amount of sylvite should be added to diet.
For convenience, we hereby list some fruits, vegetables and foods as well as
their respective sylvite volume Chinese Fruits and Vegetables Consumed by Stage 4 Kidney Failure Can a Diet Improve Kidney Function for Stage 4 CKD
