When chronic kidney disease (CKD) develops into stage 5, there will be many
symptoms for the cells and tissues are damaged in the kidney, which make
functions fail.
1.protein in urine and blood in urine
Protein in urine or blood in urine, which can also be called proteinuria or
hematuria appear in stage 5 of chronic kidney disease. With kidney being
damaged, renal glomeruli will also be damaged. In renal glomeruli, there is
filtration membrane, through which, red blood cells and proteins will leak out
through it, thus causing proteinuria and hematuria. These in turn will worsen
kidney damage. If your urine is foamy, bubbly, very pale or darker than usual
you may have blood in your urine.
2. high blood pressure
Once kidney is damaged, it can not discharge out the sodium and water, which
leads to the retention of water and sodium, thus increasing the blood content
and increased high blood pressure. In a world, kidney plays an important role in
adjusting the metabolism of water and sodium and in secreting materials which
can activate the blood vessels. Materials which can increase the retention of
water and sodium increase, and those which can lead the blood vessels to shrink
decrease, so the rate of high blood pressure increase accordingly. The National
Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI), one of the National Institutes of
Health (NIH), recommends that people with CKD use whatever therapy is necessary,
including lifestyle changes and medicines, to keep their blood pressure below
130/80.
3. anemia
In stage 5 of chronic kidney disease, the generation of red blood cells
decreases. Because kidney function is damaged, the EPO in kidney disease will
produce less, thus leading to anemia.
In addition, in the late stage of kidney disease, a lot of toxic materials
accumulates, which leads to the damage to the red blood cells and the inhibition
of hematopoietic function is also damaged. Shortened lifespan of red blood cells
leads to anemia.
4. swelling
Swelling in the ankles, feet, legs or hands could be another symptom of
kidney disease. When the kidneys start to fail, they are unable to remove extra
fluids, which then start to build up in other parts of your body.
5. Sleeping habits
Sleeping habits may change because there is less oxygen in the blood than
normal. This is called anemia and causes fatigue. This can also cause trouble in
concentration or experiencing bouts of dizziness. The anemia caused by kidney
disease means less blood flows to the brain.
