In clinic, symptoms of chronic glomerular nephritis mainly include abnormal
urine test indexes, edema or swelling, high blood pressure or hypertension and
kidney damage, etc. The detailed ones are as follows:
1. edema
Edema or swelling usually appears eyelids, face and two lower limbs. It is
usually slight or moderate. Usually, in the morning, edema appears in eyelids
and face. In the afternoon, edema appears in lower limbs. After having a rest,
edema or swelling will disappear. For those with severe edema, it spreads all
over the body and even hydrothorax takes place.
2. proteinuria and hematuria
Most people with chronic glomerular nephritis have different degree of
proteinuria and hematuria. We call these abnormal urine. Chronic glomerular
nephritis means primary glomerular nephritis. Abnormal urine can also be seem in
many other diseases such as urinary disease. So once we find protein or red
blood cells in urine, we should do further test to make sure.
3. high blood pressure or hypertension
Most chronic glomerular nephritis patients are accompanied by high blood
pressure or hypertension. High blood pressure is an important factor which
affects the development of chronic glomerular nephritis in turn. Severe high
blood pressure can lead to the rapid decline of renal function and can also
damage brain, heart as well as eyesight. So chronic glomerular nephritis people
should control blood pressure strictly.
4. renal insufficiency
Serum creatinine is the main index to show how renal insufficiency is. In
clinic, however, it is not so allergic. Only when kidney function declines to
less than half, serum creatinine begins to rise. At present, GFR, short for
glomerular filtration rate, is more widely used to test the damage in the
kidney. It can show the early damage in the kidney.
5. others such as increased urine at night, anemia and so on.
If you have the above mentioned signs, please be alert to have further test.
