In general, the urine quantity of common people is about 1500ml/24hs. The condition that the urine quantity is often over 2500ml/24hs is called diuresis; the condition that the urine quantity is less 400ml or 17ml/h is called oliguria; the condition that urine quantity is less than 50-100/24hs or no urine in 24hs is called anuria.
Anuria is caused by three kinds of reasons as following:
Ⅰ.Prerenal cause: some diseases cause insufficiency of blood perfusion of kidneys, such as shock, hypotension(High Blood Pressure and Kidney Disease), heart insufficiency, dehydration and electrolyte disorder, serious liver complaints, serious hypoproteinemia and so on. As a result, GFR(glomerular filtration rate) falls and induces oliguria and anuria.
Ⅱ. Kidney cause: common kidney diseases which can give rise to anuria include acute glomerular diseases,acute interstitial nephritis, acute acute renal tubular necrosis, vascular diseases, bilateral renal cortical necrosis, sharply worsening of chronic kidney disease. and so on.
Ⅲ.Post-renal cause: bladder neck obstruction(BNO) induces oliguria or anuria.
If patients confirm anuria, first what they should do is to seek whether there is post renal cause. And then make a judgement of the prerenal cause and kidney cause. The specific convenient method is that:
Inject in vein 100ml-200ml mannitol of 20% concentration within 10mins. After this medicine, if patients can urinate not less than 40ml, it proves the prerenal cause.
