Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) refers to a broad range of medicine
practices sharing common theoretical concepts which have been developed in China
and are based on a tradition of more than 2,000 years, including various forms
of herbal medicine, acupuncture, and dietary therapy. It can be used to treat
chronic kidney disease as well. How does it play roles?
Firstly, let’s know some knowledge about what is chronic kidney disease. If a
person has more than three months’ symptoms such as proteinuria, hematuria,
edema, high blood pressure and pain in the back, with or without decreased
glomerular filtration rate, he will be diagnosed with chronic kidney disease.
Since these symptoms take place, we should find out the reasons and the solution
to diminish the symptoms especially proteinuria and hemtaturia.
Why do proteinuria and hematuria come into being? In kidney, there are
millions of renal nephrons which can play roles of kidney such as filtration,
and so on. In each renal nephron, we can see renal mesangial area, in which
there are renal basilar membranes. Through this, some molecules such as
creatinine, blood urea nitrogen and urea acid will leak out. However, when
people have suffered from kidney disease, the pores will become bigger, so the
bigger molecules will leak out, which leads to hematuria and proteinuria.
And after trying western medicine, a lot of kidney disease patients hear that
traditional Chinese medicine can treat chronic kidney disease with a better
effect. Why?
Different from hormones and immunosuppressive agent, which can only inhibit
the symptoms for the time being, traditional Chinese medicine can repair the
damaged renal intrinsic cells, which can treat chronic kidney disease
fundamentally.
Traditional Chinese medicines are herbs and even animals which are collected
from nature. According to Chinese medicine theory, the things in the world
generate and restrict each other, so if there is a disease, there must be a kind
of therapy which can treat it.
As for traditional Chinese medicine, it contains much nutritious materials
which can supply nutrition, thus improving the insufficiency of blood and oxygen
in the kidney and creating a clean environment for the repairing. Next, after
the first step, the active materials in the traditional Chinese medicine can
discharge out and play roles, repairing the damaged intrinsic cells and reviving
renal function.
In addition, compared with western medicine, another important feature is
that traditional Chinese medicine has no side effect, which is more suitable for
the children. Children as we know, is in a critical stage, too much western
medicine can influence the growth of the children.
