Simple Renal cyst is the most common one in renal cysts diseases. When it
develops for a rather long time, it will become Chronic Kidney Disease. It
usually generates in only one kidney and the cyst appears alone. In some cases,
there will be more than one cysts in one kidney. Cysts in both kidneys are very
rarely seen. At present, the exact reason for the cyst is not clear, but the
cyst will not affect kidney function in a very serious way, especially when the
cysts are not big enough. As a result, the treatment tends to be done without
any surgery. However, when the cysts become too big, in western medicine, there
is just an operation to cut off the cyst, but later then, the cyst will
constantly grow. The disease course is long, just the same with other chronic
kidney disease.
The question whether the renal cyst is inborn or acquired has no definite
assertion nowadays, and many scholars think the cause of renal cyst is the same
or similar to that of Polycystic Kidney Disease. In general, there is clear
amber fluid in the cyst. The wall of cyst is thin and in some cases, it can be
seen as calcification. Simple renal cysts tend to be grow in the surface of
kidney, but sometimes it is in the deep kidney, and at that time, the wall of
cyst is close connected with renal pelvis and renal calices, and they can hardly
be separated. Simple renal cyst is usually seen among the elders, but nowadays
it is reported that there are a few children getting this disease.
When people have cysts in their kidneys, they will have low back pain or loin
pain, and the pain will be dull and intermittent. When the cysts are broken, the
sufferers may have sharp pain and even some manifestations in the
gastrointestinal tract. When the cyst get infected, there may be pain in the
general abdominal region and fever at the same time.
The test of urine and kidney function is always normal except for the
rarely-seen microscopic hematuria(Hematuria and Kidney Disease), because the other kidney will have the
ability of compensation and maintain all the normal work of kidneys. X-ray
examination, CT examination, ultrasound examination and radioisotope scan are
all usually adopted to the diagnosis of simple renal cyst. Sometimes it will be
confused by Polycystic Kidney Disease, but the PKD will appear in both kidneys
and the simple renal cyst will just locate in one of the kidneys. Besides, PKD
sufferers always have high blood pressure, and their kidney function will be
damaged to some degree.
All the aforementioned are basic knowledge of Simple Renal Cyst. When the
cyst is small, there will be no discomfortable feelings, but when it grows
bigger and bigger, the patients will suffer a lot and may develop Chronic Kidney
Disease with time passing by. If you have any questions, you are welcome to talk
