As we all know, the high creatinine level in the body often indicates that
the kidneys are getting something wrong, but, are you clear about the matter on
low creatinine? Next I will introduce this knowledge.
Before I introduce the knowledge about low creatinine and its symptoms, I
want to talk about something about the knowledge about creatinine.
Creatinine is a by-product of creatinine phosphate, and creatinine phosphate
is used in the contraction of skeletal muscle. Creatinine is dependent on the
muscle mass, so creatinine is higher in larger and more muscular people than in
smaller persons who do not have much muscle.
Creatinine is eliminated by the kidneys and its levels are considered as an
indicator of kidney health. In normal cases, the blood ccreatinine level should
be stable.
Decreased blood creatinine level is also caused by the decreased muscle mass,
When the muscle mass decreases, they will produce less amount of creatinine.
Besides, low creatinine could be also a sign of certain diseases which could
cause the decreased muscle mass and these diseases often contain the myasthenia
gravis and muscular dystrophy. These patients will show up with the
characteristics of weakness, muscle wasting, and other symptoms.
When the muscle mass decreases, creatinine levels will fall or drop. And when
the muscles are not used, muscle atrophy will occur. If a patient is bedridden
or hospitalized for a long time, he or she may lose his or her muscle tone, so
his or her creatinine levels would decrease.
Another factor I want to say concerning low creatinine is age. Creatinine
level will tend to decrease along with the age. So the aged as well as the young
children have a lower creatinine level compared with adults.
Now I guess that you may have a clear idea on the symptoms of low creatinine.
Immunotherapy used in our hospital could improve patients’ immunity, so patients
may have less symptoms of low creatinine.
