How does diabetes develop into kidney disease ( Diabetic Nephropathy)? In
clinic, most diabetes patients will develop into kidney disease ( Diabetic
Nephropathy) if not controlled well. Generally, in China, after ten years,
diabetes will develop into kidney disease. Different from other people, patients
with diabetic nephropathy need to take dialysis earlier. Normally, when serum
creatinine is more than 300umol/L, they should take dialysis.
Diabetes damages small blood vessels in the body including kidney vessels due
to its high blood sugar. High blood sugar leads to sclerosis easily. When the
blood vessels in kidney are injured, kidneys lose their capacity to filter the
impurities from blood properly. Body retains more water, salt which results in
increased weight and swelling in the ankles, thus causing kidney disease.
Since we have figured out how diabetes develops into kidney disease, we
should take measures to prevent it.
1. Patients with Diabetic Nephropathy should control the intake of blood
sugar. It is because high blood sugar can accelerate the development of Diabetic
Nephropathy as well as lead to blood vessel sclerosis.
2. Patients with Diabetic Nephropathy should control the blood pressure
strictly and control it below 130/80mmHg. In addition, it is forbidden to take
medicine which does harm to kidney.
3. Patients with Diabetic Nephropathy should take more water. The intake of
water should be 1500-2000, and the amount of urine should also be 1500-2000,
which is good to the discharge of metabolism.
4. Take more exercise to lose weight. Obesity is a factor which leads to
severe diabetes.
